The Superellipse tables are available in various sizes and with a laminate or walnut veneer tabletop. While the laminate versions have an aluminum edge, the walnut veneer versions have a natural wood edge. The table’s iconic clamping legs are available in either chrome-plated or powder-coated steel.
The Superellipse table was inspired by Piet Hein’s solution to the redevelopment of Sergels Torg public square in central Stockholm.

Piet Hein
Danish Scientist and Poet Piet Hein created the Superellipse as a new oval shape for Sergels Square in Stockholm. Later, in cooperation with Swedish designer Bruno Mathsson, they used this shape for the Superellipse table which has been produced by Fritz Hansen since 1968.
Bruno Mathsson
One of Sweden’s most important furniture designers. Mathsson created some of the classic objects of functionalism.
He advocated seating furniture with gently curved and organic forms that should be adapted to the human body and its natural posture.
