Versatile artist Piet Hein is considered one of Denmark’s most respected cultural figures – a creative genius widely recognized either through his witty verse or through those who gather around his iconic Superellipse table. The unique shape of the SuperellipseTM also serves as the basis for the PIET HEIN chair, a design created specifically by Piet Hein for the table but never before put into production. Similar to the journey of the Superellipse table, it took almost a decade from the initial concept of the PIET HEIN chair to the completion of the final piece in 1968.
In close collaboration with Piet Hein’s family, the Danish furniture manufacturer Sibast Furniture is now presenting the super elliptical chair. Initially introduced in black, the Piet Hein chair collection is now expanding with an additional chrome and fully upholstered version.
