Børge Mogensen’s Asserbo Series bench exudes a stringent, stylistically consistent design. Made of solid, dark-oiled eucalyptus, the rounded shapes and visible screws of brushed brass give this set an informal aesthetic. The visual clarity and strong structure clearly alludes to the Shaker style, where Mogensen has let the materials speak for themselves.

Carl Hansen & Søn – BM0699/0700/0701 – Asserbo Series – Bench
The Asserbo Series was originally made of pine, but to preserve the beautiful expression of the furniture for as long as possible, the series is now made of dark oiled eucalyptus, a much harder wood distinguished by its calm grains of wood, reddish-brown color and scarcity of knots. Naturally, the wood comes from sustainably forested, fast-growing eucalyptus trees. The loose seat cushion is available in textile.
The robust aesthetic and use of materials in this bench make the furniture ideal for private and holiday homes, but also for restaurants and public spaces.
Børge Mogensen approached his design based on what he called the ‘workshop’ method – to design furniture of high utility value. The Asserbo Series is a result of this, crafted to meet Mogensen’s own need to furnish his holiday home in Asserbo, Denmark.
