The PP Møbler – pp502 Swivel Chair is an uncompromising design that puts comfort and ergonomics first. The solid wood top bar, turned like a propeller, is separated from the rest of the frame and worked out to the limit to take full advantage of the ergonomics.

Das PP Møbler – pp502 Swivel Chair Bürostuhl von Hans J.Wegner
Wegner was inspired by the criticism of consultant, professor and doctor of medicine Egill Snorrason PhD, which was directed against the entire Danish design and furniture industry for not paying attention to ergonomics. In his critique, however, Snorrason had pointed out that Wegner’s Cow Horn Chair was a good example of ergonomics done right, which was taken into account in the design of the Swivel Chair.
Like numerous other Wegner designs, the Swivel Chair was intended to be made by craftsmen, without regard to cost-minimizing industrial production.
The office chair poses great challenges to the cabinetmaker, the upholsterer, and the blacksmith, as it requires time-consuming work that must not be compromised in any way.
