The Carl Hansen & Søn – EK61 -Opal pendant lights design by Esben Klint

The EK61 Opal pendant lamp was designed as early as 1961. However, it never went into production. Now it comes for the first time in a version of glass and wood on the market. Originally made of pleated plastic, the elegant pendant lamp was designed by Esben Klint, the son of the famous Danish designer Kaare Klint. At the time, it was considered too complicated to manufacture and its design disappeared into the family archives until today. The current, modern version is made of mouth-blown, pleated opal glass in an elliptical shape. The distinctive oak wood details, carefully turned and polished by hand, give the lamp a classic expression reminiscent of traditional Chinese lanterns. The EK61 is available in three sizes and emits a soft, indirect light thanks to the prudently combined classic materials.
