Carl Hansen & Søn – HK20 BUBI Pendant

Henning Koppel, the renowned Danish designer behind the BUBI lamp, was primarily an artist. He trained in drawing and sculpture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the Académie Ranson in Paris. In 1945, he began designing silverworks for Georg Jensen. Koppel revolutionized Danish silver traditions, establishing Georg Jensen as a leader in modern Scandinavian design. His flowing, organic jewelry designs and sculptural silverwork earned him international acclaim, creating timeless pieces that continue to delight generations.

The BUBI lamp, one of his most remarkable creations, originated one sunny summer day when Koppel sketched his young grandson in the garden. The grandson’s bucket hat inspired the lamp’s basic shape, but it also features the distinctive style of Koppel’s celebrated silverwork for Georg Jensen.
