DK3 – Royal System®

The DK3 – Royal System® consists of wall-mounted wooden rails and shelves with hangers made of brass or stainless steel with various module options. Cabinets, drawers and desks can be adjusted in several individual combinations. In fact, Poul Cadovius claimed that the original system had 16 million possible combinations.

The rails are made of solid wood. Rail screws same material as hangers.The tabletops of the tables are veneered, and the table legs are made of solid wood.The cabinet for drawers is veneered, and the drawers are made of solid wood.The workstation is veneered, and the drawers are made of solid wood.Shelves, magazine shelf, desktop shelf, cabinet w/ writing flap, cabinet w/ 2 doors and cabinet w/ sliding doors are veneered.

Hangers: 

Raw brass or stainless steel.

Since brass is softer than stainless steel, it is expected that the shelves with brass hangers “work” more than shelves with stainless steel hangers.

Hangers are not sold seperately.

Treatment:

• oiled or soaped

We recommend a weight limit of 35 pounds/15 kg per shelf to retain the structural integrity. Shelves can however flex slightly over time.

The DK3 – Royal Sytem® Design by Poul Cadovius

Poul Cadovius received a lot of attention, especially for his iconic shelving systems. The world-famous ROYAL SYSTEM® from 1948. It was one of the first innovative wall-hung furniture systems in the world.

Poul Cadovius is one of the most famous and successful personalities in Danish furniture history. “Architect, designer, autodidactic inventor, innovator, the enfant terrible of the furniture industry – the titles are varied”, writes the author Henriette Houth in her book “Kassebogen”.

Poul Cadovius has registered over 400 patents – the last one when he was 90. Both his life and his designs bear witness to a real character who has gone his own way – to the delight of all of us. In 2010 dk3 relaunched the ROYAL SYSTEM® in contemporary materials such as walnut, oak and high-pressure laminate. The ROYAL SYSTEM® can be ordered individually as a classic bookshelf, modern desk or library with different cabinet modules.In 2010 dk3 relaunched ROYAL SYSTEM® in different types of wood and the shelving system remains a timeless classic with a space-saving, flexible design that offers numerous options for personal, modern expression.
