Armchair 46 embodies excellent comfort and high-quality materials and represents the best of modern Danish furniture design. It was originally designed for the Copenhagen Carpenters’ Guild exhibition in 1946 for master carpenter Niels Vodder. In the years between 1947 and 1949, Finn Juhl modified the armchair for the furniture manufacturer Bovirke in a simpler, more aerodynamic version. We have reissued this later version.

The 46 Chair design by Finn Juhl
In this version, Finn Juhl clearly tried to emphasize the lightness of the chair by separating supported and supporting elements. Similar to the Chieftain Chair and the 45 Chair, the 46 Chair represents the best of modern Danish furniture design. Thanks to modern technology, the reissued version is made in superior quality with stronger joints than the original.
The 46 Chair is made in oak or walnut and is upholstered in fabric or leather. The chair is available with or without armrests.
