Volther’s 1964 masterpiece, the Corona Chair, combines modern Danish design with sculptural aesthetics. Its elliptical forms and four upholstered pads provide ergonomic comfort and flexible seating options. Crafted from raw brushed spring steel, the frame blends stability and elegance. Locally produced in Svendborg, Denmark, the Corona Chair, with its organic forms and clean lines, is a global design icon. Its name refers to the corona, the luminous edge of the sun visible during a solar eclipse.

About the designer, Poul M. Volther:

Poul M. Volther was an important champion of Scandinavian functionalism. Although rooted in a rationalist design dogma and inspired by the purpose-driven mindset of the Bauhaus movement, Volther was eager to experiment with new methodologies. His unerring sense of detail and appreciation of material properties resulted in simple, stylised furniture with a subtle yet striking aesthetic.
