Description of the Egg Chair:

The Fritz Hansen – Egg Chair lounge chair was developed for maximum comfort. A beautiful lounge chair that will enhance the standard of any environment, be it a private living room or a high-class reception area or hotel.

The Egg™ armchair by Arne Jacobsen is a timeless Danish design masterpiece. Like a sculptor, Jacobsen created the perfect shape of the bowl by experimenting with wire and plaster in his garage. Today it represents one of the highlights of Jacobsen’s legendary career worldwide – a truly monumental achievement of Scandinavian craftsmanship.

Arne Jacobsen designed the egg in 1958 to give the reception and lounge area of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen a distinctive charm. This absolute design classic impresses with its elegant, extravagant curves.

The cold foam padded plastic shell on the rotating star base is available in a polished aluminum or a colored powder-coated version. The cover is available in either fabric or leather, in a wide range of colors. The egg and its counterpart the swan are represented and admired in various design museums around the world. The unique design, inviting and harmonious, at the same time elegant and luxurious, underlines the beauty and popularity of these very special pieces of furniture.
