About the Kay Bojesen Hippo:

The hippo was originally designed in 1955 as a charming desk accessory—a playful solution for keeping pencils handy. Kay Bojesen’s imaginative wooden animal family has delighted both children and adults for generations. Whether given as a christening present, a graduation gift, for a jubilee, or a wedding, the hippo remains a timeless companion that transitions from the nursery to becoming a cherished design piece in any home.

The updated version remains true to this concept but offers a new function: Made from beechwood and coated with black chalkboard paint, the hippo can now be used as a memo board. Whether for small reminders or creative sketches, it can be personalized using the included white chalk. Additionally, it is approximately 2 cm taller and wider than the current model in the collection, providing even more space for writing and drawing.

Kay Bojesen maintained his childlike curiosity and joy until his final breath. He passed away at the age of 72, leaving behind an impressive design legacy, which is now lovingly preserved by his four grandchildren.
