About Stouby – Maria Sofa Series:

Maria is a sofa series in fabric or leather and with a solid visible frame in beech or oak. The form-tensioned frame and headboard, together with the struts and the shapely legs, provide a light but strong construction. The back and seat cushions are padded with cold foam. To achieve maximum comfort, the seat cushions also have a sandwich construction.

It all began in 1902 in a small village called Stouby in central Jutland, Denmark. A few hundred kroner, half a hide of leather, the frame of a chaise longue and a little linen – that was all the founder of the Stouby furniture factory, Marius J. Blirup, needed for his first steps.

Even though the circumstances were modest and the means were small, the furniture manufacturer’s creativity and inventiveness were great.

Marius J. Blirup soon established himself as a regular exhibitor at the annual “Købestævne” – an internationally recognized trade fair for Danish design and craftsmanship in Fredericia at the time.

The Maria couch series from Stouby is available in many different designs. You have a large selection of fabrics and leather types.
