The CH45 Rocking Chair was designed in 1965 as part of a broader furniture series for Carl Hansen & Søn that bears the unmistakable signature of Hans J. Wegner. Wegner’s Rocking Chair demonstrates a careful balance between serenity and elegance with a modern Nordic aesthetic. Available with optional seat cushions and neck pillows, Hans J. Wegner, also known as “Master of the Chair,” is fascinated by the concept of the rocking chair. Through his meticulous approach to design, which he reduced to the absolute essentials in terms of comfort and functionality, after years of constant refinement, this fascinating rocking chair for the modern era was created. Designed in 1965, the CH45 Rocking Chair is part of a larger series Wegner designed for Carl Hansen & Søn, including the CH44 Lounge Chair, the CH46 and CH47 dining chairs and the CH53 Footstool, all of which are still in production to this day. The modern rocking chair impresses with the elegance of its Nordic simplicity, inspired by the Shaker era. It has a reclined back design and a woven paper cord seat, which is repeated in other designs in the series.
